Shehu Dikko Commends Nigeria’s Presence In International Badminton Bodies

National Sports Commission (NSC) chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko has commended the president of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Barrister Francis Orbih for holding pivotal positions in international bodies.

Sports247 reports that Dikko reckoned that holding key posts in badminton’s continental and global governing bodies makes Orbih relevant in the scheme of things, which would always give Nigeria many advantages.

Dikko stated this while inaugurating the newly elected board of the badminton federation, whose successful election he cited as another testament to the NSC’s aspiration for functional sports federations in Nigeria.

The NSC’s director of information and public relations, Dr (Mrs) Kehinde Ajayi disclosed in a media statement that Dikko also challenged Orbih and his 15-member board to do better with their new mandate.

Dikko stated, “You have gotten another mandate. This speaks to your good works in the last tenure. You are in the continental and global bodies so it will help the growth of badminton in the country.

“I have always clamoured for our sports administrators to get involved in the continental and global bodies. This is a debt you owe to the people that re-elected you and to Nigerian badminton in general, to take the sport to the next level.”

The NSC’s boss concluded by informing Orbih and his aides that the best way of solving contentious matters is through dialogue, then assured them that his door will always be open to them should they need any assistance.

“Our doors are wide open. If you have any grievances, come to us instead of going public. We have done a lot to build private sector interest and confidence. We wouldn’t want little differences to jeopardize these efforts,” Dikko advised.
