Edo State Deputy Governor Rt.Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu has vowed to make Edo Queens the best NWFL female team in Nigeria.
Comrade Philip Shaibu disclosed this during an evening training session with the girls at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin-City.
“I want to announce to you all that I have ordered quality training gymnasium equipment for you girls. This is to enable you, girls, to get 100 per-cent fitness because football is a contact game you need to be very fit to be able to play the game and excel in it.”
“You know that I’m totally in charge of sports, I have decided that I will provide all that you need to make you comfortable in Edo Queens. So very soon the equipment will be delivered to your camp so that your Coach will draw up a training program where you will go to the gym to train. As long as I remain in charge, I will ensure that you girls don’t lack anything, but provided you are given us results.”
His Excellency the Executive Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki told you, girls, last week that he is there for you, so today am here training with you that is to say that we are very committed to making Edo Queens the center of attraction in Nigeria professional female football.”
“Again our dream is to ensure that Edo Queens players dominate all segments of the female National team. By the time most of you get good clubs in Europe, we would be proud to say that miss A or B was a product of Edo Queens.”
“Hope you all saw the brand new bus that took you, girls, to Lagos, do you want to return it back to us? so if you want it to be for you, you must put in all your best. There is no female team that you cannot beat, it is a question of your mindset. I want to urge you all to always put your very best in anything you find yourself doing. When you do your work very well, there is 100 per-cent assurance of success at the end. I want you all to continue with that winning spirit because your negotiating power will be based on the kind of results you are bringing to us. I have told you that we are highly interested in playing at the Champions League, so for you to get there it requires absolute commitment, focus determination, discipline, and consistency. But I know you girls have all it takes to be there because you are perpetual female world Cup players. Once again I congratulate you all for starting the NWFL premiership on a winning note. You must keep the colorful flag of Edo Queens flying. Don’t rest in your oars; because we have a big task ahead of us.” He concluded.
