Semi Ajayi’s West Brom back to EPL

Nigeria star, Semi Ajayi will be playing in the Premier League come next season following his side dramatic victory on Wednesday night as they will now officially join Leeds- Championship winner in playing in the England top flight league.

Slaven Bilic’s side will join automatically join the league leaders- Leeds in the top-flight following a 2-2 draw with QPR because both Fulham and Brentford fail to win.

Games have been played behind closed doors since the season’s resumption amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, leaving both Leeds and West Brom to initially celebrate to empty stadiums.

Despite social distancing rules, and several warning to stay away following a recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the area, fans could be clearly heard celebrating outside The Hawthorns from about 30 minutes after the final whistle, while there were images on social media of flares being let off. At one stage, several players made their way up the steps of one of the stands, disappearing briefly before returning to the pitch and dressing rooms.

The Baggies have returned to the top flight two years after suffering a painful relegation.

Ajayi will now join fellow compatriots- Iheanacho, Ndidi, Iwobi, Ighalo in competing at the England top flight stage.
