Semi Ajayi Rues Own Goal Against Man City

Rotherham United defender, Semi Ajayi is sulking over the own goal he scored on Sunday, as he hit one of the slots that helped Manchester City move to the English FA Cup fourth round with a 7-0 victory.

Sports247.ng reports that it was Ajayi’s 29th game of the season in all competitions and, despite giving away one of the goals for the hosts, his performance was top notch at Etihad Stadium.

Rotherham were 3-0 down at the interval, as Ajayi turned the ball into his own net in the first minute of stoppage time, while trying to clear a Kyle Walker in swinger.

However, the scoreline could have been worse for the visitors had Ajayi not stopped Raheem Sterling from opening scoring in the third minute.

Ajayi also did well to keep Gabriel Jesus at bay twice in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, but The Millers’ poor current form let him and the entire team down.

With only one win in their last ten games in the English Championship so far this term, which came on New Year’s day against Preston North End, it was bound to be an uphill task for Ajayi and his pals.

Ajayi could not do anything, as six different City players – Sterling, Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Nicolas Otamendi, Leroy Sane – all hit tatget on their home turf.
