Bukola Olanrewaju, wife of late Nigerian boxer Segun Olanrewaju, has made an emotional appeal to authorities and the public, pleading for the repatriation of her husband’s remains from Ghana—two months after his tragic death in the ring.
In a heartfelt video shared on Facebook Bukola, flanked by her two young daughters aged two years and six months, expressed deep frustration and sorrow over the continued delay in bringing Segun’s body home for burial.

“It’s been two months since Segun died, and I still don’t know when or if his body will be returned,” she said tearfully in the video. “No one has given me a clear answer.”
Segun Olanrewaju reportedly collapsed and died during a boxing match in Ghana, with an autopsy later confirming heart-related complications as the cause of death.
Despite the medical investigation being concluded, his body remains in Ghana with no clear timeline for repatriation.
Bukola Olanrewaju disclosed that her parents have been assisting her financially since the tragedy, but she is struggling to cope. “I need to get back to work so I can care for my children,” she said. “But how do I move forward when my husband hasn’t even been buried?”
The grieving widow added that since her husband’s passing, she has received little to no support or communication from boxing authorities or officials responsible for handling such matters.
With growing uncertainty around the return of Segun’s remains, the Olanrewaju family is calling on relevant authorities—both in Nigeria and Ghana—to step in and expedite the process.
Segun Olanrewaju’s untimely death has raised questions about athlete welfare, especially in high-risk sports like boxing, and the support structures in place for their families when tragedy strikes
