Secondary School Student Eyes Team Lagos Shirt Ahead National Sports Festival

Bucknor FC defender, Abdulquadri Afolabi says he would continue to fight for a shirt in the football team of Team Lagos ahead of the national sports festival scheduled to commence in Delta State later in the year.

Afolabi while chatting with Sports247 said he failed to join Team Lagos in preparation for zonal elimination recently due to the fact that he just resumed SS 3 class.

Afolabi who had won youngest best footballer of the year in Bucknor FC said if he is given a second chance, he would make the final list that would go to Delta State.

“I was invited to Team Lagos camp but I was unable to meet up for the everyday training due to the fact that I am in the final class. I am still aiming to play for Team Lagos if I am given a second chance by the coaching crew,” he said.

Afolabi who congratulated Team Lagos for qualifying for the football event at the just concluded zonal elimination boasted that he is ready and fit to play for Team Lagos in preparation for the festival.

“I still train with my club, Bucknor FC. I train on a daily basis in the evening so I can say I am fit and ready if Team Lagos still needs my service. I am a young player, good in marking, and always fight for the ball on the field of play,” he boasts.

Asked if he had the happiest and saddest moments in his football career, Afolabi disclosed that anytime his club lose a match is a sad day for him.

“I love winning. Anytime my club loses a match is my saddest day but my happiest day is when I am on the field of play and wear my club jersey,” he said.

Commenting on the club’s promotion from Ikeja Championship to Super League, Afolabi said the victory was well deserved and commended the coaching crew for the job well done.
