Seamoriow Cup 2025 Gets Hotter At Ikotun, As Competition Chairman Oluwaseyi Amos Explains Motive

This year’s edition of the annual Seamoriow U15 Youth League is bound to get hotter this Wednesday at the venue in Islamic area of Ikotun, Lagos, as three of the competition’s biggest clubs will be in action.

Sports247 gathered that the day will begin at 9am with the host’s team, Seamoriow Football Academy lining out for thrills, followed by the feeder team of lower division national league side, 36 Lion FC, and then 2022 finalists, Super Accurate FC in the last fixture at 12pm.

It promises to be bolts of exciting youth football artistry on display across the lush green astro turf that has turned the once duty ‘Islamic Field’ into a citadel of beauty, much to the delight of fans who throng the venue on a daily basis.

The man who turned the sandy surface into a spectacle to behold and has now brought enhanced football development to the area for the fourth year running is a youthful entrepreneur named Honourable Oluwaseyi Owolabi Amos.

He stated at the draw ceremony, during which the 16 contesting clubs were separated into four groups, that this year’s edition, which will have its final at the same venue on Sunday, September 7th, is tagged ‘Chase The Goal.’

Honourable Amos revealed, “We want to make sure that these children get a good platform to showcase themselves and express their talents.

“We want to give them a platform so that they can put in more effort. That’s why we tagged this year’s edition ‘Chase The Goal.’ It means every young player must have a vision they want to achieve.”

The fair-skinned football promoter, youth developer and players’ representative further pointed out that the competition normally comes up during the long holiday period of schools, to ensure that students are kept busy with football and taken away from juvenile vices.

Amos added, “The meaning is that there’s no resting period if you want to become somebody in life. You just have to chase your goal.

“However, before you can chase your goal, you must have a platform. If you have the energy to chase the goal, we give you the platform to achieve that goal.”

He concluded by revealing that the competition also aims to turn around the lives of as many participants as possible, ranging from players to coaches, spectators, referees, and journalists.

“That is what we are trying to achieve with this fourth edition. It’s a platform for the players to chase their goals,” reiterated Amos, who also disclosed that a lot of individual prizes are set to be won.

Sports247 gathered further that N1.5m will go to the winning club on September 7th, while the most valuable player will get N300,000 among other cash awards and gifts that will be handed out immediately after the final.
