Scottie Ebube Sent Packing From College Basketball Game After Leaving Team’s Bench

North Carolina (NC) State University ace, Scottie Ebube has been hit with an uncanny setback, as he was sent off by match officials before he could even get into action with his team in a collegiate basketball game.

Sports247 reports that Ebube fell foul of the rules, as he jumped off his team’s bench to complain about calls against his side during their National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) men’s basketball game at John Paul Jones Arena.

Ebube became the biggest victim when fight broke out in the second half of the game on Tuesday night, and his team went on to lose 90-61 away to rampaging Virginia, who rolled to a dominant win over NC State.

Incidentally, Ebube was not at the centre of the storm, which erupted three minutes into the second period, as Virginia’s Sam Lewis and NC State’s Darrion Williams got into a brief confrontation at midcourt.

Lewis appeared to shove Williams, after which he and Paul McNeil Jr. retaliated, which sparked a big scrum in the middle of the court, requiring coaches of both teams and officials to get the players separated.

Ebube was ejected from the contest for leaving the bench, though he had not played in the game at that point, while both Lewis and Williams were hit with technical fouls, and the game continued.

Aside from defeat for his team, it was also a personal setback for Ebube, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 as a Redshirt Junior at Wyoming, during which he played 23 games.

He averaged 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 rebounds per game, shot 67.6 percent from the field, made 50-of-74 field goal attempts, then scored season-high 22 points at San Jose State on January 25th.

He also made 11-of-14 field goal attempts, had season-high seven rebounds in a season-finale against San Jose State, just a year after his Sophomore Season at Southern Illinois, where he appeared in 31 games.
