Samuel Kalu: Super Eagles Can Rule Africa In Egypt

Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu has predicted that the Nigerian national team can win this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, as he believes the Super Eagles are blessed with several quality players.

While also admitting he is excited to be part of the new-look squad that is handled by Gernot Rohr, sports247.ng gathered that Kalu is also very much relishing the friendly aura among all the Nigerian players.

The former KAA Gent of Belgium forward hinted that the spirit of unity and close affinity among all the Eagles’ players is one of the key factors that make them a huge threat to other teams heading for Egypt 2019.

Kalu admitted he was thrilled to receive Rorh’s call into the Eagles after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as he noted that his invitation came at a point he was snubbed during his time in Belgium with Gent.

Since then, the 21-year-old Kalu has started all the Eagles’ matches since then, as he scored in a game against Seychelles, played two versus Libya and the friendly with South Africa, with two assists also to show in all.

Kalu recounted: ”I was very flattered to be called by Rohr to play with the Super Eagles. It was a long time since I expected that.

”I told myself that I needed to work even more. I was very well accepted and get along very well with my teammates, especially with Alex Iwobi.

”We have a lot of quality players on the pitch, I am confident that we can with the Africa Cup of Nations in June.”
