Samuel Kalu Misses Bordeaux’s Tie With Guingamp

Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu will miss a third straight match for his club this midweek, as he remains suspended, and will not feature against Guingamp.

Sports247.ng learnt that, as it was the case this past weekend against FC Toulouse and versus Paris-Saint Germaine last week, Kalu will not play on Wednesday, due to the straight red card he got during his side’s clash with Olympique Marseille the previous weekend.

Kalu had been hoping on only a match ban for the sending off, but Ligue 1 authorities opted to follow the rules to the letter and hit the former KAA Gent of Belgium winger with maximum punishment.

The Super Eagles’ rookie is thus suspended for three matches, two of which he has already faced, after missing the games with PSG last week and Toulouse on Sunday, while the third will be this Wednesday.

Bordeaux confirmed Kalu’s unavailability, based on a ruling by the LFP Disciplinary Committee following the red card he got against Marseille on February 5.

The LFP Disciplinary Committee, which arrived at the decision after their meeting on Wednesday, however, affirmed that Kalu is eligible for Bordeaux’s match away to FC Nantes on Sunday, February 24.

That will be a chance for redemption and restoration for the 21-year-old Kalu, who has featured in 17 French Ligue 1 matches, with three goals and three assists to his name.
