FC Porto of Portugal striker, Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa (Samu) is a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur of England, with high expectations that he will make the switch in January, Sports247 gathered.
This follows a strong hint from the London-based club that their new coach, Thomas Frank is eager to bolster his attack with stronger firepower in the winter transfer window and the gaffer considers Aghehowa as the right option upfront at the start of 2026.

A demoralising 4-1 loss to Arsenal in Sunday’s London derby reaffirmed Spurs’ need for stronger presence upfront, and Frank sees Aghehowa as a world-class striker who can turn the club’s floundering fortunes around.
This is considering that the 21-year-old Nigerian-born attacker, who used to be known as Samuel Omorodion but recently changed to his maternal surname to honour his mother, comes with a strong pedigree.
Although he could not make his mark when signed by Atletico Madrid in 2023 and was shipped on loan to lowly rated Alaves, where he also struggled, Aghehowa has since gained four caps with Spain’s senior squad.
His honours’ list also includes six goals in 11 games for Spain’s under-21 squad and a 2024 Olympic Games gold medal with their under-23 side, thereby providing him with a solid base that has now captivated Spurs’ coach.
Aghehowa, who was born in Melilla, Spain and got his breakthrough at Granada, has been in top form this season with title chasing Porto, for which he has hit six goals and provided an assist in 10 league games, which Tottenham believe qualify him for a deal.
A report by Tribal Football via Sky Sports adds: “Richarlison’s lack of goals and Dominic Solanke’s persistent injury issues have meant that manager Thomas Frank has led a toothless attack since he took the job.
“Frank worked with Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins at Brentford; and Aghehowa is said to be his ideal striker heading into the summer transfer window, as he is very similar compared to the pair.
“Chelsea (had) a deal to sign the striker in 2024 and agreed to pay £35m. However, the move collapsed at the last moment after he failed his medical test, after sustaining an ankle injury.”
