Rwanda Name 27-Man Provisional Squad for Super Eagles Ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier

Rwanda head coach Adel Amrouche has unveiled a 27-man provisional squad ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

The list features three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and nine forwards, with Kaizer Chiefs’ shot-stopper Fiacre Ntwari among the headline inclusions. Ntwari has faced the Super Eagles three times in the past year and famously kept a clean sheet in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Rwandan champions APR FC dominate the selection with five players: goalkeeper Pierre Ishimwe, defenders Alex Nduwayo, Claude Niyomugabo, and Fitina Ombalenga, as well as forward Gilbert Mugisha.

The Wasps will open their September international window against Nigeria on September 6 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, before traveling to Johannesburg to take on Zimbabwe at the Orlando Stadium on September 9.

Currently sitting second in Group C with eight points—level with Benin, five behind leaders South Africa, and just one point above Nigeria—Amrouche’s men face a defining week in their qualification campaign.
