Rwanda national cricket team secured a convincing 23-run victory over Nigeria Yellow-Greens in Match 11 of the ongoing regional tournament held at the NCF Oval 1 on Tuesday. The defeat adds pressure on Nigeria’s campaign as teams jostle for top spots.
After opting to bowl first, Nigeria struggled to contain the Rwandan batters, as Rwanda posted 128/8 in their 20 overs.
Top performance came from Rwandan all-rounder Didier Ndikubwimana, who scored a fine 51 from 53 balls, a knock that earned him Player of the Match honours and laid the foundation for Rwanda’s competitive total.
In response, Nigeria managed only 105/9, falling short of the chase as wickets fell at regular intervals. Although a few batters fought bravely, the Yellow-Greens couldn’t build partnerships to steer them close to the target.
What This Means
The 23-run win boosts Rwanda’s standing in the tournament and keeps their campaign on track.
For Nigeria, the loss exposes inconsistencies particularly in batting, as they continue to search for stability under pressure.
The result also serves as a wake-up call for the Yellow-Greens: with the tournament in full swing, there is limited margin for error if they hope to advance beyond the group or pool stage.
