Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) president, Dr Ademola Are has cast a look ahead of the upcoming Africa Rugby Sevens 3 qualifiers in Uganda and acknowledged that it will be a tough competition.
Sports247 reports that Dr Are assessed the tough task ahead of the Nigerian rugby squad, even as he thanked top shots of the National Sports Commission (NSC) for supporting the team in preparing for the competition.
Are gave the plaudits while speaking at the World Rugby Levels 1 and 2 medical, coaching and officiating course in Abuja, where he also revealed that the rugby national team is already preparing for the competition in Uganda.
He enthused further that The Stallions’ chances of excelling at the World Rugby Sevens 3 competition have been boosted by necessary backing from the NSC to put the team in the best possible shape.
“We are preparing for the World Rugby Sevens 3 in Uganda, and we have received needed support from the National Sports Commission for our preparation. It has never been this good.
“We hope to make the country proud in Uganda. We know it is going to be tough, but we have a very good chance of punching above our weight and picking the World Rugby Sevens 3 ticket,” Are submitted.
Sports247 gathered further that The Stallions will face Ghaba, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal and hosts Uganda during the qualification tournament, which is also the opening leg of the Africa series, with the winner qualifying for the 2027 World Rugby Sevens 3.
