Rowe Park Comes Alive On Sunday With Lagos State Swimming Trials For Ages 12-16

The iconic Rowe Park Sports Complex at Yaba, Lagos will be a beehive of activities this Sunday, with young swimming talents of ages 12 to 16 expected to turn up in their large numbers for a day of trials.

Sports247 gathered that the arena is already looking prepared ahead of the day, as the 2026 Lagos Swimming Trials are expected to unearth a fresh wave of talents for forthcoming national and international competitions.

A statement by Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) revealed that the trials, which aim to identify and empower young swimmers, are open to ambitious kids in both male and female categories aged 16 and under.

The contests will cover 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 4x50m mixed freestyle relay, and the 4x50m mixed medley relay events.

Sports247 also gathered that the participants will compete in categories of 15 to 16 years, 13 to 14 years and 12 years below, ahead of which coaches and swimmers seeking participation were advised to contact Lagos State Aquatics Association.
