Rotary Club Of Ikeja Alausa Celebrates Maternal, Child Health Month With Informative Webinar, Donation Of Diapers To Nursing Mothers

In observance of Maternal and Child Health Month, the Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa under the leadership of Rotarian Sola Ayanwale, FCA (President 2023-2024) hosted an enlightening webinar on July 21st, shedding light on the benefits of breastfeeding and the importance of birth plans.

Nurse Omechamba Abigail, a seasoned registered nurse, and midwife, captivated the audience with her expertise as the event’s distinguished speaker.

Nurse Abigail stressed the various advantages of breastfeeding, benefiting both mother and child by nurturing healthy growth and development.

She stated that the thick yellowish milk (colostrum) produced for the first few days following birth is particularly rich in antibodies and should not be squeezed out as done by many women.

In recognition of Nurse Abigail’s impactful contributions, the Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa extended an honorarium and presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation at her hospital, Hamkad Hospital Abulegba lauding her commitment to maternal and child well-being.

In line with the mission of the club to make a positive impact, the Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa also donated diapers to nursing mothers, evoking emotions of gratitude and happiness among the recipients.

The mothers expressed their admiration for the Club, citing economic challenges that had delayed purchases of diapers.

These expectant mothers conveyed their aspiration to join hands with organizations like the Rotary Club, ones that tangibly transform lives.

Their genuine gratitude was accompanied by heartfelt prayers for the club’s ongoing success in its altruistic endeavors.
