ROCHDALE BEAT BURUJ 5-3 IN THE FINAL OF ENGLISH SUPER CUP – As Action Moves To Cardiff- Wales For Welsh Super Cup Kicking Off On Thursday

Buruj Sports Academy’s quest to defend their English Super Cup title came to an abrupt end after they lost 5-3 to Rochdale FC A-Team in the epic final game played on Sunday in Manchester.

A combination of fatigue, unfavourable weather condition and individual errors proved an Achilles heel for the young team and the English Lower League side based in Manchester capitalised to inflict the first defeat of this year’s tournament on the team to end their dream of retaining the title.

Buruj Boys drew the first blood in the 10th minute as ever mesmerising Azeez Oseni blast a shot past the home team goalkeeper but it didn’t take long before they equalise after the referee awarded them a penalty. From, that point, it was battle-royale from beginning to the end but Rochdale emerges as the overall winner in the youth category of this year’s tournament.

Action move to Cardiff where the Welsh International Super Cup will kick off on Thursday, August 1st and the experience of the English Super Cup will be handy for the Buruj side to perform better.

While reacting on the performance of the final game, the CEO of the academy Salaudeen Waheed expressed satisfaction over the performance of the boys but was quick to add that so many things worked against the boys which will be taken care of ahead of the next assignment.

He also thanked people who have been supporting the team way back from Lagos and those who are still following the team in the course of participation.
He promised that the boys are ready to put the pain of losing the final behind them and to go all the way in Cardiff.
