Robert Whittaker Backs Israel Adesanya’s Belt Shot Against Polish Champion Jan Blachowicz

Israel Adesanya coming at the back of a resounding win against Paulo Costa is reportedly eyeing another belt to his previous one and former opponent, Whittaker, seems confident in Adesanya’s ability to do so with a victory against Jan Blachowicz as Robert Whittaker is the next legitimate contender in line for a title shot.

Robert Whittaker had recently defeated Jared Cannonier at UFC 254 and the victory should’ve led him to a shot at regaining his belt against Israel Adesanya. However, the Nigerian-born Kiwi doesn’t seem excited with the prospect of having a rematch against someone whom he defeated convincingly in their first bout.

Adesanya is now anticipating a light heavyweight division as he has expressed his desire to fight light heavyweight kingpin Jan Blachowicz for the title.

After he has had a taste of Adesanya’s flair and power, Whittaker believes ‘The Last Stylebender’ will come out on top against the Polish champ.

Whittaker told Submission Radio when asked whether Adesanya can get past Blachowicz, “Yeah, I do,” “His striking is so much better. Jan’s got that big power, but Israel (Adesanya) doesn’t get hit that much. I think this is a picture-perfect fight for him to get the belt away from the division.”
