Although Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) runners-up, Rivers United of Port Harcourt are already out of the continental race, the result they get this weekend will determine the fate of two group rivals.

Sports247 reports that The Pride of Rivers are already out of contention for a spot in the knock-out stage of the ongoing CAF Champions League race, but the result they get away to RSC Berkane of Morocco will be quite decisive for their hosts.
This is because Berkane are level on seven points with Power Dynamos off Zambia heading into the last group games for all teams in this season’s competition, and the Moroccan side need all three points to pull through.
Incidentally, a potentially slippery tie away to group leaders Pyramids of Egypt awaits Dynamos, who defeated Rivers United 1-0 a fortnight ago in Uyo, a week after both sides drew goalless in Zambia.
A preview of the impending Matchday 6 fixtures by cafonline revealed that only three of eight knockout places have been confirmed, leaving five tickets still to be claimed across the continent.
The preview added in part, “Title holders Pyramids FC, record champions Al Ahly and history-making Stade Malien have already secured progression. For the rest, qualification will be determined over 90 intense minutes.
“In Group A, Pyramids sit comfortably at the summit with 13 points and will host Power Dynamos knowing their place is already secured. The real battle is for second spot, where Berkane and Power Dynamos are level on seven points.
“Berkane welcome eliminated Rivers United and need a victory to guarantee qualification. Power Dynamos must better Berkane’s result to advance as they are behind the Moroccan side on head-to-head.”
