Rivers United tired of NPFL inactivity –Stanley Eguma

With the January 13 resumption date for the Nigeria Professional Football League season yet to be stamped after the uncertainty trailing the Nigeria National League January 5th playoff date, Head coach of Rivers United Stanley Eguma has revealed that the situation is actually taking its toll on his team as they prepare for the 2019 league season.

The veteran gaffer has revealed to Sports247.ng that his players have continued to train ceaselessly but the suspense and confusion has left them weary, tired and worn out as they await a decision on the exact resumption date of the league.

The long serving coach has charged the leadership of the League Management and the Nigeria Football Federation to solve the problem by reverting to the agreements reached at the end of last season where four team were suggested to gain promotion to the elite league while the 20 teams from the previous season in the NPFL will retain their top flight status.

Eguma said. “The situation is not very palatable as we keep working without knowing what we working for. This situation has already gotten out of hand and I hope the NFF and others involved can swiftly arrest the situation so it will not escalate more than it has.”

The NFF and officials of the NNL have fixed Saturday January 5th as the kick off date for the NNL playoffs to be played in Aba which will feature a total of 8 teams.
