Fans of Port Harcourt-based Rivers United FC might get to see at least two new players in the club’s squad list for their first match of the CAF Champions League, Sports247 reports.
This follows a strong hint from The Garden City club’s coach, Finidi George, who pointed out that the competition’s rules allow each qualified team to sign two fresh players for the group stage.

With The Pride of Rivers haven already been drawn in Group A alongside the defending champions, Pyramids FC of Egypt as well as Power Dynamos of Zambia and winners of last season’s CAF Confederations Cup, RC Berkane of Morocco, Finidi admitted his team is in for a tough quest.
However, the former Super Eagles’ winger and erstwhile head coach of the Nigerian national team refused to be cowed by the enormity of the impending task facing his club, as he averred that they will face the matches one after the other.
“We’ll take each game as it comes. We’ll check the fixtures and start to prepare properly. We can even have an inclusion of players and register two new ones for the group stage.
“We’ve been searching for good players, because we know how difficult this tournament is. So, we’re thinking of adding one or two extra players to the squad.”
Finidi, who starred for Ajax Amsterdam of Netherlands, Real Betis of Spain and Ipswich Town of England at the height of his career, posited, “We will basically take each game one at a time and try to enjoy the competition.”
