Rivers United Falls Short in CAF Confederation Cup Clash: Manager Stanley Eguma Reflects on Missed Chances, Team’s Effort

Stanley Eguma began by congratulating USM Algers on their victory. He reflected on the missed opportunities in the first leg of the match in Nigeria, which he believes led to their defeat. “We had our own share of the game but we could not convert our chances,” he said.

Despite the loss, Eguma expressed gratitude towards his players for their efforts from the beginning of the competition. He acknowledged the challenges of competing against the defending champions and thanked the team’s management and sponsors for their support. He expressed hope that the team would come back stronger in the next season.

Stanley Eguma also discussed the team’s strategy for the game. “When you win a possession, you’re going to attack. When you lose a possession, you have to defend your goal,” he explained. He lamented the team’s inability to convert early chances into goals.

Finally, Eguma shared his views on USM Algers and other teams in the competition. He believes that while USM Algers is a good team, there are many other strong teams in the competition. He emphasized the importance of team management and expressed his belief that Rivers United could have advanced to the next round if they had capitalized on their chances.
