Remo Stars Stadium was virtually fast asleep, quiet and peaceful all through Sunday, in silent expectation of the Nigerian National League (NNL) Super-4.

In place of busy activity of excited football fans, officials and traders, the environment was largely cool and calm, with security personnel keeping watch.

However, residents and traders around the stadium’s immediate vicinity are looking forward to the week-long NNL Super-4 at the arena owned by Chief Kunle Soname and most of them are talking about the games to come.

A ride round the town that produced foremost Nigerian nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and educationist, Tai Solarin also revealed some bolts of expectation among indigenes ahead of Monday’s kick off.

Some kids who spoke with Sports247 disclosed that they were waiting patiently at the stadium gates ahead of the arrival of Doma United.

“We are from Gombe and we are here to support our team. Some of their players are our friends and we want to greet them before they start playing their matches,” said one of the boys named Hassan.

However, the first team to arrive was Sporting Lagos FC, who cruised in with an unmarked 24-seater bus at around 4:45pm for some light training at the arena.
