Reminder: last two months to submit your work for the AIPS Sport Media Awards!

The Formula 1 is back. The Champions League and the Europa League are back. The NBA is also back. As sport slowly resumes its normality across the world, the AIPS Sport Media Awards continue to gather submissions from all around the world for its third edition.

In just two years, the AIPS Sport Media Awards became the highest accolade in the sport media industry, unparalleled both in terms of global impact and equality of opportunities. In the second edition, we have received submissions from 120 countries.

Dedicated to all media professionals, whether directly employed or freelancers, participating in the Awards is completely free.

New normality But how does the pandemic affected the Awards? Well, it hasn’t.

The participation period remains as announced, therefore, all works published between October 8, 2019, and October 7, 2020, will be valid.

A lot of sporting events happened before the pandemic changed the world, but once it did, the new narrative created valuable stories, columns, podcasts, photographs and documentaries that will be part of this edition, too.

Senior categories are divided between Writing, Photography, Audio, Video. There’s also an entry-level category for young journalists: Young Reporter Under 30.

Each of the winners will receive 8,000 Dollars (1st placed), 3,000 dollars (2nd placed) or 2,000 dollars (3rd placed). The Young Reporters’ winners will earn a scholarship at a top international sporting event.

As we continue to receive and screen hundreds of submissions, the AIPS Executive Members and Jury members are already reading, listening and watching the works received. Our platform allows all of them to have direct communication with the office (as per requesting translations or asking for extra information).

The preselected works will be subject of three rounds of voting. One by the EC members (representing 24 different countries) and two by the Jury members (respected seasoned journalists from the 5 continents).

The works that qualify for the next round will be announced towards the end of the year, as it happened in the first two editions, while the ceremony will take place at the beginning of 2021.

After the successful galas in Lausanne 2018 (with IOC president Thomas Bach as main guest) and Budapest 2019 (with FIFA president Gianni Infantino), both with live TV coverage, the third edition will surely provide a new kind of gala, to adapt to the current circumstances.

Remember, in order to participate you only need to sign up at www.aipsawards.com and submit your work.
