Rasheedat Ajibade Wants Better Facilities At Super Falcons’ Camps

Atletico Feminino of Spain attacker, Rasheedat Ajibade has inferred that one of the reasons why the Nigerian women’s national team, Super Falcons, have failed to shine in recent competitions is because they lack adequate facilities during camping, Sports247 reports.

With the Falcons now bracing for another outing at the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), in which they surprisingly finished third last time out, Ajibade hinted that Nigerians should not expect anything better if the team’s camping conditions are not improved on.

To butress her point, Ajibade, who is the Falcons’ new substantive captain, recounted a scenario that played out during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, and stressed that what she saw in Spain’s camp made her gasp in amazement.

The former FC Robo Queens of Lagos winger, Rasheedat Ajibade recalled: “In the game after Brazil, we played against Spain, and we were in the same hotel with them. I had a teammate there, and I went to their floor to check on her.

“They had a physiotherapy room there, and I could see all the equipment set down for the players. There were also like four physios taking care of different players at different corners.”

The fleet-footed attacker, who is fondly called ‘Lady With The Blue Hair,’ went on with a verdict that it is improper to expect victory from circumstances that are not conducive for the players, who she stressed are always ready to give their very best for the love of football and the nation.

She added, “I was at the Olympics and virtually played all the minutes of every game; but I couldn’t go to the physio because we had only one physio treating all the players. So, it’s really bad, but we keep playing because this is what we love to do.”

Ajibade concluded with a suggestion on how to make things better in the Falcons’ camp, with a chain of better results also following, as she advocated an influx of improved investments into the sector.

“With all the chaos back home, football is one thing that gives Nigerians joy. However, there’s less investment in the sport, yet they always expect us to win. It doesn’t work that way,” the born-again Christian with a Muslim name posited
