RANGERS SNAP UP ABIA, NWEKE TO FORTIFY SQUAD

The management of Rangers International F.C have successfully snapped up the duo of Ifeanyi Nweke from Kano Pillars and leading goal scorer in the 2019/2020 NPFL season, Israel Abia to fortify the squad of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ to challenge for honors.

Speaking after concluding all paper works relating to the acquisition of the duo at the club’ corporate office, Thursday, General Manager of the Enugu side, Prince Davidson Owumi, said that it is the belief of the coaches and management that the two players will use their skills and experiences to help Rangers in the chase for league honors.

“We are glad to have Israel and Nweke here with us. Personal terms have been agreed upon while we have also settled with their former clubs. I am sure that their coming with that of four others will to a very large extent enhance our push for a top finish this season,” stated the former NPL boss.

Attacking sensation and leading scorer in the ongoing season, Israel Abia, who started his career in the Coal city, said, after putting pen to paper, “I am very happy to be here in Rangers to contribute my quota towards seeing that we end the season on a high.”

Ifeanyi Nweke who has been in sparkling form for ‘Sai Masu Gida’, Kano Pillars for the past two seasons, said, “It is a thing of joy to be in Enugu to do my best for Rangers and ensure we challenge for a top finish at the end of the season.”

There are strong possibilities of having both players in the match day squad for the NPFL, M.D 16 encounter against Abia Warriors F.C in an ‘Oriental Derby’ slated for Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu, this weekend with kickoff slated for 4.00pm.
