In a statement released on Friday, May 2 2025 titled “My Sincerest Apology,” Ayegbajeje expressed regret for the misinformation aired during his program, noting that the remarks were not intended to malign the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board, the management of 3SC, or the government and people of Oyo State.
“I deeply regret the misinformation sent to the teeming fans during one of my radio presentations,” Ayegbajeje stated. “It was not intentional against the NPFL Board, 3SC management, government, and good people of Oyo State.”
Acknowledging the historic legacy and reputation of the Ibadan-based football club, he emphasized his respect for the institution and its supporters.
“To the government, good people, stakeholders, and every Ibadan Soccer Lord, I say, I am very sorry,” he added.
The apology comes after significant backlash from fans and football stakeholders, with Shooting Stars threatening legal action.
This prompted the presenter to formally retract his earlier comments and seek reconciliation with those affected.
The NPFL and 3SC have yet to issue an official response regarding the apology.
