The Progressive Professional Boxers Association (PPBA) has officially inaugurated its newly elected executive committee, with a renewed commitment to improving the welfare and career sustainability of Nigerian boxers.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, drawing stakeholders from the boxing community and sports administrators.
Speaking at the event, the association outlined its core mission of uniting professional boxers across the country while building a structured and sustainable ecosystem that supports athletes both during and after their careers in the ring.
Central to the PPBA’s agenda is the establishment of a dedicated support fund to provide financial assistance to boxers, particularly in times of need.
The association also revealed plans to introduce career development programmes for retired fighters, ensuring a smoother transition into life after active competition.
In addition, the PPBA emphasized its commitment to securing health insurance coverage for boxers and promoting fairness, transparency, and proper dispute resolution mechanisms within the sport.
