PRESS RELEASE: LOC Chairman Launches Journalist Armwrestling Challenge with Prize Money at Abuja 2025

As part of activities marking the 2025 African Armwrestling Championship, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka, has officially launched a special Armwrestling Challenge exclusively for accredited journalists, with exciting prize money up for grabs.

Announced during the World Press Conference held at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, the contest is a fun and symbolic way to recognise the energy, commitment, and massive media support the event has received.

“This is our way of saying thank you to the press. You’ve amplified this championship beyond our expectations, and now it’s your turn to get on the table — literally,” Hon. Adeboye said.

The Journalist Armwrestling Challenge will feature male and female categories, with winners walking away with ₦200,000 each. Additionally, ₦100,000 and branded gift items will be presented to other outstanding reporters who demonstrate dedication and creativity throughout the tournament.

With the arrival of all 20 participating countries and over 400 athletes and officials, excitement is reaching a fever pitch as Abuja prepares to host the 14th African Armwrestling Championship, kicking off July 23.

The Journalist Armwrestling Challenge is set to be one of many engaging side attractions that make Abuja 2025 an unforgettable celebration of sport, strength, and media excellence.
