Adamu disclosed this in an exclusive chat with Sports247 after Saturday’s race in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where he said the support of everyone from ‘The Nigerian Ombudsman’ helped him pull off the stunning feat.
He further revealed that he entered Saturday’s competition with great expectations, as he had competed in the same race last year and a number of others as well.
The ambitious runner said, “Honestly, I am so excited, but I knew I could do it. In last year’s edition, I came in as Nigeria’s number four.
“This time, I am the overall number four and the first Nigerian to cross the line. In fact, I am very, very excited and so happy.
“(That’s why) I am saying kudos to Nigerian Ombudsman. This victory is not mine alone … it’s also for the ombudsman. So, I’m saying huge congratulations to the Nigerian Ombudsman.”
He concluded by revealing a line of factors that helped him achieve the remarkable placement, and he was able to stand out as Nigeria’s leading runner of the moment.
“First of all, it was strength, second was discipline and thirdly due to motivation from my noble chief commissioner, Honourable Bashiru Abubakar of the Public Complaint Commission.
“I also thank everyone at the Nigerian Ombudsman for all the support they have given me to carry out my running hobbies.
“I also appreciate the hard work of my coach. His efforts helped me do the wonderful race that I had on Saturday. I am saying a big kudos to them all and I am so happy,” Adamu submitted.
