Poland 2025: All is Set as Senegal Name Killer Squad for Falconets Showdown in Abeokuta

Senegal have unveiled their squad ahead of Saturday’s crucial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash against Nigeria’s Falconets, as both sides gear up for the third-round first-leg encounter.

The Senegalese Football Federation confirmed the list on Wednesday, with head coach Mbayang Thiam opting for a carefully balanced selection largely made up of players from local academies and domestic clubs, reinforced by a handful of foreign-based talents.

Headlining the squad is Bourges 18 forward Adji Nidaiye, a finalist for the 2025 CAF Young Player of the Year award. She is joined by AS Bambey goalkeeper Yakhara Diagne, while Fatou Nidaiye Camara of Lycée Ameth Fall provides cover between the posts.

In defence, Thiam has called up Aissatou Fall, Adama Siga Diouf, and Ndeye Haby Barro, with Mbene Diop, Mariama Faty, and Mame Diarra Diallo anchoring the midfield. Senegal’s attacking line will be led by Marie Louise Sarr, Khadija Badio, and Aissatou Sagna.

The Lionesses of Teranga arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday night, touching down in Lagos before making the road trip to Abeokuta.

They held their first training session on Wednesday evening at the African Church Grammar School.
Saturday’s fixture serves as the first leg of the penultimate qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will be staged in Poland.

The winner on aggregate will advance to the final qualifying round, where Guinea-Bissau or Malawi await for a ticket to the tournament.

CAF has named Uganda’s Diana Murungi as referee for the encounter, with Immaculate Ongiera and Elizabeth Nassolo appointed as assistant referees. Burundi’s Suavis Iratunga will serve as fourth official, while Christine Ziga of Ghana has been designated match commissioner.

Berthe Minka of Gabon will act as referee assessor.
