Plateau Gov’s Golf Cup Winner Dedicates Title To Coach

Winner of this year’s Plateau Governor’s Golf Cup, Ayuba Izang has dedicated the title to his coach, Samson Lawal, for guiding him in the right way to go.

Sports247.ng learnt Izang was all smiles after eemrging overall winner of the tournament on Sunday in Jos, for which he got a car and N854,000.

The car came courtesy Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, who said it was from a bet between him and the governor of Niger State.

Lalong recalled: “After last year’s tournament, Niger State’s governor boasted that there were more professional golfers in his state and that they will win this year’s tournament.’

On his part, Izang thanked God for helping him be part of the event and dedicated his victory to his coach, as he believes the feat would not have been possible without the right technique and encouragement.

Izang said: “He told me that he believed in me and said that I must work hard to win this tournament.

“He said we must not allow golfers from outside Plateau keep winning the tournament.

“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Gov. Simon Lalong for his unflinching support for the success of the tournament.

“I pray God to grant him long life and may He also grant him his heart desire, which he said was all about being re-elected in 2019.”
