Abuja Tennis Academy fast-rising ace, Stephanie Pinky Onyemenam took another massive steep forward in her career by not only winning the under-12 girls category of this year’s CBN Juniors at Ikoyi Club but also emerging as best female player.
Sports247 reports that Onyemenam, whose biggest motivator and trainer is her mother, stole the show from beginning to end at the competition officially known as 2026 Central Bank of Nigeria Junior Tennis Championship.
On the final day of activities, Onyemenam defeated Amira Mohammed 9-4 in the Girls’ U12 category at Ikoyi Club 1938, while Gideon Peter got a 9-2 victory against Moroti Sowemimo to emerge champion in the Boys’ U12 cadre.
Alaba Adesina won the Boys’ U14 class after defeating Gideon Afaramai 9-5 at the same venue, while Barakat Ganiyu also got a 9-5 win over Sinmi Olaniyan to emerge victorious in the Girls’ U14 bracket.
Gloria Samuel clinched the Girls U16 title by defeating Favour James 9-3 while Heman Afaramai of Nigeria Police College Tennis Academy defeated Damilola Agunbiade 9-7 to clinch the Boys 16 gong.
While Onyemenam won the girls’ most outstanding player award, the same honour for the boys’ section went to Heman Afaramai for his stunning performance in the under-16 final against highly-rated Damilola Agunbiade.
