Pick Poland, Not Nigeria: Omoniyi Olajide Told To Follow Emmanuel Olisadebe’s Example

Sports247 reports that this strong piece of advice came for Olajide after he stated his desire to get an invitation to the Super Eagles because he is eager to play for Nigeria’s senior national team.

Barely had the highly-revealing story by Sports247 about the 23-year-old rising star’s desire hit the net than a horde of comments started trailing it, with all urging him to dump Nigeria for Poland.

The comments came in contrast with the thoughts of Olajide, who styles his game after that of former Super Eagles’ midfielder, Seyi George Olofinjana and wants to emulate his role model by wearing Nigeria’s jersey soon.

The product of Idowu Boys FC and Team 360, who previously played for Chemal FC, Nouakchott Kings and Pilica Bialobrzegi FC, also adores former Manchester City star, Yaya Touré because of his ubiquitous abilities, calmness on the ball and eye for goal.

However, despite Olajide’s growing status, several followers of Sports247 on social media believe he stands a better chance of playing for Poland instead of Nigeria, considering how star-studded the Super Eagles’ defensive midfield is at present.

One of the comments by Roland Oladunni noted, “With Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika in that position, I think this boy had better stay in Poland and play for them.”

Another respondent, Emeka Okwechime added curtly, “Let him play for Poland, follow the footsteps of Emmanuel Olisadebe. With due respect, someone should advise him rightly.”

Sports247 gathered from several other comments trailing Olajide’s story that followers of the game are of a unanimous view that any Nigerian player who has an opportunity of featuring for another country should not hesitate to boldly take up that option.

It is now left to be seen if Olajide will take to the suggestions of these fans and opt for a future with Poland at senior international level or still try to live his dream to one day playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
