Peters: Don’t Talk About Revenge On Saturday

Super Falcons former head coach, James Peters has advised the squad and crew to avoid talking about revenge against South Africa in Saturday’s final of the African Women Cup of Nations.

Although ‘JP’ admitted it was a shock and quite painful seeing South Africa beat Nigeria in their opening group match, he reasoned in a chat with sports247.ng that it is better to concentrate on playing them anew.

The veteran coach, who has also handled Nigeria’s under-20 and under-23 national teams at various points in the distant past, adviced that the Falcons should not go for vengeance, to avoid playing with anxiety.

Peters warned: “It is not about revenge, but about getting the job done without any pressure and distraction.

“In fact, they need to tread with caution, and just forget that they lost their first game of the competition to South Africa.”
