Peter Rufai To Participate In NNL Refresher Course For Coaches

The Nigeria National League (NNL) board has announced the participation of former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, as one of the resource persons in an upcoming refresher course for second-tier league coaches.

The course aims to prepare coaches for the 2023/2024 league season, scheduled to kick off on October 28.

The course, organized in collaboration with the National Institute for Sports (NIS), will take place from October 15 to 18 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

All 40 National League coaches are expected to attend, and the program will provide them with essential coaching principles.

Peter Rufai expressed his honor and enthusiasm for being part of the team of resource persons and pledged to contribute his best to further the development of Nigerian football.

He sees this course as an excellent opportunity to enhance the knowledge and exposure of coaches to the technicalities and rules of the game.

Rufai has been an advocate for training and retraining of coaches and believes that this initiative will equip coaches more effectively for the league.

Other notable figures who will serve as resource persons during the refresher course include Austin Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Thiago Conde, a Portuguese Uefa licensed coach, Clement Temile, a former Super Eagles player, and Prof Olawale Moronkola, the Director General of the National Institute for Sports.

The NNL board, under the leadership of Mr. George Aluo, has taken a proactive step in enhancing the second-tier league by providing coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills.

Participants in the program will receive an NIS certificate upon completion of the course.

The collaboration between the NNL and the National Institute for Sports is expected to raise the standard of coaching in Nigerian football, ultimately benefiting the league’s development and the growth of football in the country.

The refresher course aims to equip coaches with the most fundamental coaching principles, which will contribute to the overall improvement of football in Nigeria.
