Peseiro Keen On Winning Next AFCON, Committed To Improve Super Eagles

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has started his desire to improve the Nigerian senior national team and win the next African Cup of Nations.

The former sporting Lisbon tactician made this vision known as he spoke to the media platform of the national team. Peseiro who is far away in Algeria for the international friendly match against the Desert Foxes feels Nigeria has too many talents not to do well in Africa and at the world level, hence, the desire of wanting to win Africa’s most priced silver wear. In recent times, the super eagles have suffered a hand full of setbacks. Failing to qualify for the 2022 world cup and elimination from the nations cup in the round of sixteen are tops on the list.

In his statement, the 62-year-old said “We need to work and improve the national team. I want to win the next African cup of nations. Because of that, we need to improve our national team.

Peseiro sees the need to add values to the team as the three-time African champions are presently a shadow of their former self. ” introducing dynamics, model, organization, in and out of the field of play. You need to create a connection with the players”.

Since the Portuguese took over the team four months ago, a reasonable number of players have been injected into the team as part of his plan to boost the quality of the super eagles. It doesn’t just stop there. Peseiro has further plans to add more quality to the team.

“We need to know other players. From the first game till now, came nine new players. Therefore, we will build a great national team. That’s our goal”.

José Vítor dos Santos Peseiro took over affairs of the super eagles from the then interim manager, Augustine Eguavoen, who in turn took over from sacked Franco-German coach, Gernot Rohr. Eguavoen resigned after failing to qualify Nigeria for the World Cup holding in Qatar by November.
