“Participating in the Preseason Unity Tournament forms part of our preparation for the New NPFL Season” Coach Akinade

Ahead of the new NPFL season, Doma United have intensified preparation by participating in the Unity Preseason Tournament in Abuja.

In what was its debut season in the NNL, United gained promotion to the NPFL with some games to spare before the end of the season.

With the high demand of playing in the NPFL, the United’s technical crew including the newly appointed Technical Adviser, Onigbinde Akinade are doing everything possible to put the team in good shape before the start of the season.

After the postponement of the NNL Super4 Playoff due to the ravaging effect of flood in Bayelsa state, Doma United used the opportunity to participate in the Unity Tournament in Abuja.

United were paired with Mahanaim Academy, Wikki Tourist and EFCC in the same group.

United lost its first match against Mahanaim by a lone goal while they were held to a goalless draw by Wikki Tourist before surrendering a 2-1 lead to draw 2-2 against EFCC in their final group as the result wasn’t enough for the Savannah Tigers to progress to the next round.

While speaking to the media department of the team, the Technical Adviser of the team Mr Onigbinde Akinade said participating in the tournament gave them an opportunity to identity the team’s weaknesses and strengths and have sighted areas that needs more attention.

“We really appreciate the Club CEO for allowing us to participate in this competition and that forms part of our preparation ahead of the new NPFL season. This has given us the true picture of where the team is, what needs to be done and how we can address some of the tactical challenges we have identified. We will now go back home, we will sit and work on these weaknesses as we will try to address them in our own ways. Our fitness level need to improve and that is one of the few areas we will work on immediately we get back.”

Mr Akinade assured that the technical crew will continue working hard in order to put smiles on the faces of Doma United fans.
