Simon, who joined Paris FC from FC Nantes in the summer transfer window, has endured an inconsistent debut campaign in Ligue 1.
The 30-year-old has managed just three goals and two assists in 23 league appearances, including a stretch of 12 consecutive matches without a direct goal contribution.
Speaking ahead of Paris FC’s upcoming clash with Le Havre AC, Kombouaré revealed that he has held honest conversations with the Nigerian international regarding his performances.
The French tactician admitted that Simon has shown encouraging signs since his arrival, particularly in terms of fitness, confidence, and work rate.
“Between today and the player I saw three weeks ago when I arrived, Moses has regained his confidence. He has the legs and is capable of repeating efforts,” Kombouaré said.
However, the coach made it clear that improvement alone is not enough, insisting that the winger must now translate his efforts into decisive contributions in the final third.
“Now he needs to be effective, to create goals or score himself—that’s what we expect from him,” he added.
Kombouaré also disclosed that he did not hesitate to criticise Simon’s earlier displays, describing them as below the expected standard while reminding the player of his responsibilities.
“I simply told him that his performances were unacceptable. You can say what you want, but you play first and foremost for yourself and your family,” he stated.
The Paris FC boss stressed that Simon must justify the faith placed in him and step up as a key figure as the club fights to secure its top-flight status.
Despite a difficult start to life in Paris, Simon will be hoping his reunion with Kombouaré, under whom he previously played at Nantes, can spark a return to form as Paris FC continues its survival battle in Ligue 1.
The Nigerian winger recently reached a personal milestone, making his 200th appearance in the French top flight.
