Sports247 reports that the huge spotlight on para-table tennis is due to the growing interest it is generating in Nigeria, as well as its production of world-class players who have excelled at continental and global competitions.

Consequently, para-table tennis is expected to draw huge crowds at the upcoming Para-Games 2026 in Abuja, from March 26 to April 3, with over 3,000 athletes expected from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

They will compete in 15 para-sports events during the eight-day Games that has been described as a ‘celebration of resilience, inclusion and excellence,’ as well as a key platform for talent discovery and development.

With the competition also giving physically challenged athletes a rare opportunity to position themselves for future international championships, Para-Games 2026 will bring together a wide range of athletes competing in various categories.

Among them is para-table tennis, which will feature 18 medal events, in both wheelchair and standing classifications, whose games are expected to be filled with intense rallies, quick reflex exchanges and strategic strokes from each player.

Sports247 reports further that para-table tennis is an event that entails anxiety, suspense, fast paced action and tactical depth, which will make it a favourite of fans who are expected to converge in large numbers on Abuja National Stadium.
