Finnish club Pallo-Iirot have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Jelino Mario Ishaq ahead of the new league campaign, adding attacking strength to their squad.
The striker joins the club after previously featuring for AC Albosaggia Ponchiera in Italy and developing his early career at Marvelous Star Football Academy in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Speaking after the announcement, Pallo-Iirot head coach Kimmo Hörkkö expressed confidence that the Nigerian striker will add a new attacking dimension to the team.
“He will give us a different option for the team’s attacking line,” Hörkkö said following the signing.
The coach described Ishaq as a powerful target forward capable of holding up play and providing a physical presence in attack.
“Mario is a very strong target-profile attacker. He can receive and keep even the toughest balls for his team despite pressure from opponents,” he added.
Beyond his qualities on the pitch, Hörkkö also praised the Nigerian for his attitude and leadership within the squad.
“Mario is also a great person — very positive, but he also knows how to demand in the right way and sets an example for others with his enormous work ethic. Mario is part of this team with a big heart,” the coach noted.
The move represents an important opportunity for Ishaq to continue his development in European football while contributing to Pallo-Iirot’s ambitions in the upcoming season. With his physical style, work rate, and ability to link play in the final third, the Nigerian forward is expected to play a key role in the club’s attacking setup.
As the new season approaches, Pallo-Iirot supporters will be eager to see how the Nigerian striker adapts and delivers in Finnish competition.
