Over 100 Archers Set to Compete in the Inaugural Lagos Open Archery Championship

The Lagos State Archery Association, in collaboration with Zen Archery, is set to host the inaugural Lagos Open Archery Championship at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on March 9 and 10, 2024.

The event is expected to attract over 100 archers from across the country, making it a landmark event in Nigeria’s sporting calendar.

Emmanuel Oyeleke, the head of Zen Archery and a national archery champion, shared his excitement about the upcoming championship. He revealed that the competition would feature various categories, including Compound, Recurve, and Barebow, providing a platform for a diverse range of archers to showcase their skills.

He also highlighted that the event is the inaugural archers’ ranking/ratings database event by Zen Archery, promising a fiercely contested tournament with enticing cash prizes for participants.

Dapo Akintoye, Head of Brand and Comms at The Grid Management, also spoke about the significance of the event. He emphasized the championship’s role in supporting youth development and sports in Nigeria. Events like the Zen Archery Lagos Open Championship play crucial roles in nurturing talent and providing platforms for athletes to excel, Akintoye stated.
