The Nigerian forward found the back of the net to hand Galatasaray all three points in a tense encounter that saw the Turkish champions battle hard until the final whistle.
Speaking after the match, Osimhen said he was pleased to get on the scoresheet again and help his team secure an important win.
“I’m happy to score again and help the team win,” Osimhen said.
The striker also reserved special praise for the Galatasaray supporters who travelled to support the team during the derby clash.
“I want to thank our fans who made the away trip. They were the loudest in the stadium,” he added.
According to Osimhen, the victory was even more impressive considering the difficult circumstances his team faced during the match.
Galatasaray were reduced to ten men at a crucial stage of the game, forcing the team to defend resolutely while protecting their narrow lead.
“The team showed great resilience after we went down to ten men,” he explained.
Osimhen praised his teammates for maintaining discipline and determination throughout the encounter.
“I’m proud of the boys because everyone stayed focused and worked hard to keep the result,” he said.
The goal continues Osimhen’s impressive run of form since joining Galatasaray, with the Nigerian striker quickly becoming a key figure in the team’s attacking setup.
With the derby victory secured, Galatasaray will now shift attention to upcoming domestic and European fixtures as they aim to maintain momentum in both competitions.
“This win gives us confidence, but we must keep working because there are many important games ahead,” Osimhen concluded.
