The club management attributed the delay in salaries and bonuses to budgetary and administrative processes within the state government.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the club management stressed that the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has not abandoned Osun Babes FC or its players.

According to the club, the government, with the support of the Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi, has continued to show commitment to sports development and athletes’ welfare in the state.

Management explained that discussions were held on a proposed review of players’ salaries, with plans for the increment to take effect from January.

The proposed adjustment, they noted, has already been captured in the state’s budget framework.

However, the implementation has been delayed due to the need for formal budget approval and release, describing the situation as a procedural and administrative delay rather than deliberate neglect.

Addressing reports surrounding the ₦60,000 paid to some players in January 2026, the club described the payment as an interim measure made in good faith while awaiting full budgetary approval.

Management emphasised that the amount was neither intended to be the final payment nor a true reflection of the players’ full entitlements for the season.

The club also dismissed claims that players had been “reduced to beggars on the street” as exaggerated, noting that while economic conditions remain challenging nationwide, the Osun State

Government is engaging relevant authorities to ensure outstanding welfare matters are resolved in a responsible and sustainable manner.

Management further highlighted the Adeleke-led administration’s track record of fulfilling its commitments across various sectors, including sports, once due process is completed.

Osun Babes FC, the statement added, remains a priority, with ongoing discussions aimed at aligning players’ welfare with approved structures and available resources.

The management therefore appealed to players, supporters and the general public to remain patient and avoid the spread of misinformation that could negatively affect team morale and public confidence.

“They assured that constructive dialogue remains open and all legitimate concerns are being addressed through the appropriate channels.

Osun Babes FC reaffirmed its commitment, alongside the Osun State Government, to safeguarding the dignity, welfare and professional development of its players in both the short and long term.
