Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen has disclosed that he is looking forward to a ‘momentum of wonderful results’ for his club after their stunning 1-0 victory against Liverpool of England in the UEFA Champions League.

He described Tuesday’s victory as ‘a statement’ by his club and expressed delight that it made Galatasaray’s fans happy, in contrast with the sorrow that followed a 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany in their first game of this season’s elite clubs’ contest.

“I am overwhelmed, and I am happy for the team. I am happy for the fans and for myself. To be able to put on this performance, I think their support went a long way going for us.

“We needed their total backing, knowing fully well that we were playing against one of the greatest clubs in the world,” the 2023 African Footballer of The Year declared.

The second highest scorer ever for the Nigerian national team, who previously hit target in the UCL for Lille Metropole of France and SSC Napoli of Italy, went on to state delight with his quick return to action after copping an injury while playing for the Super Eagles against Rwanda.

Osimhen enthused, “For me, being able to come back and help the team as much as I can was really a good feeling. I believe we will keep on working hard in order to build on the momentum.

“We have to enjoy this win, and we have to be happy; especially after the last game we played in the Champions League. Everyone was sad, and there was a lot of criticism all over the place.”

The Ultimate Strikers FC of Lagos product, who also previously played for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Racing Charleroi of Belgium, also took a look at what he believes would become multiple positive ripple effects for his Istanbul-based Turkish Super Lig outfit in the coming weeks, as he believes they will show a great transformation.

He enthused, “I think this is a turnaround for us. A lot of people took us as the underdog, which is normal. Nobody gave us faith, aside from our fans all over the world.

“I also thank the club president, the coaching staff and everyone associated with Galatasaray. We have shown that we can really overturn a lot of things if we put our minds and our soul into it.”

He concluded by reiterating the delight in his heart and predicted that the victory will signal a chain of better results over the days to come in the UCL, Super Lig and all other competition’s the club will engage in this season.

“I’m really happy about this win. It’s a statement win for us, and we want to build on this momentum. Not only in the Champions League but also in every competition we will be playing in this season. We will continue to give our all, and I’ll remain happy for the team,” Osimhen posited.
