Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up on his decision to sign for Turkish giants Galatasaray permanently, citing his daughter’s influence and the passionate support of the club’s fans as key factors behind the move.
The 26-year-old Nigerian forward joined Galatasaray last summer on a season-long loan from Napoli after a protracted transfer saga that saw him linked with top European clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, and Saudi side Al Hilal.

Speaking during his unveiling at Rams Park on Saturday before Galatasaray’s pre-season friendly against Lazio, Osimhen revealed that family played a pivotal role in his choice:
“It’s a decision I made earlier than expected. But to an extent, I already associate with Galatasaray fans,” Osimhen said, per Forza Cimbom.
“In fact, my daughter is more inclined to Galatasaray than me. I’ve seen how she associates herself with her Turkish friends, she speaks of me every time and the club.
“Apart from the fans that drove me with the love and passion they have for the club, my daughter was key to making this decision much easier for me. All my family love Gala. So I can’t see a reason not to be here. That’s why I call it home. I will enjoy myself till I’m not needed here.”
Osimhen’s move, completed on Thursday, cost Galatasaray a club-record €75 million—more than double the previous Turkish transfer record of €30 million.
During his loan spell, Osimhen became a crucial player for the Lions, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists to help them win both the Super Lig title and Turkish Cup.
Despite heavy interest from European powerhouses and a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, the Nigerian striker opted to stay in Istanbul.
Osimhen is expected to make his first appearance of the new season next week when Galatasaray faces Gaziantep in their opening Super Lig match
