Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up on the circumstances surrounding his strained relationship with Napoli, insisting that his issues were never with the club’s supporters.
The Nigerian forward stressed that he holds the Napoli fans in the highest regard and remains grateful for the love and support they showed him throughout his time in Italy.

Osimhen explained that the breakdown in relations stemmed from internal issues within the club, as well as incidents of racial abuse that deeply affected him. According to the striker, these challenges gradually created tension, making it difficult to maintain the same level of harmony that existed earlier in his stay.
“My issues were never with the Napoli fans,” Osimhen said. “I have so much respect for them and the city. They supported me massively from day one, and I will never forget that.”
The forward also revealed that he had a gentleman’s agreement with the club president regarding his future, stating that both parties had agreed he would leave at a certain point. Osimhen emphasized that he prides himself on keeping his word and was disappointed when agreed terms were not honoured as expected.
“There was a clear understanding with the club president about my future,” he added. “I always keep my word, and the problems started when that agreement was not respected. It wasn’t about the fans at all.”
Osimhen’s comments have helped clarify lingering misconceptions among supporters and the wider football community. As one of Africa’s most high-profile strikers, his situation has attracted global attention, but the Nigerian insists he has moved on, focused on his career and continuing to give his best wherever he plays, while maintaining respect for Napoli and its passionate fan base
