Despite Galatasaray’s emphatic 5–2 demolition of Juventus, Victor Osimhen cut a visibly frustrated figure on a night many expected him to celebrate without restraint.
The Super Eagles striker, who led the line for Galatasaray, failed to score at RAMS Park but played a decisive role, supplying two assists as the Turkish champions overwhelmed Juventus in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout play-off.

Osimhen’s animated reactions — notably when Galatasaray went 3–2 up and again after the final whistle — quickly became a talking point among fans and analysts, given the commanding nature of the victory.
“Three Goals Are Not Enough”
Addressing the incident after the match, the 27-year-old explained that his frustration stemmed from ambition rather than dissatisfaction.
“We all know why I took the ball. 3–2 is not enough against a team like this,” Osimhen said, in comments shared by Forza Cimbom.
“This is Juventus — one of the best teams in the world. Italian teams can always surprise you. They have the quality.”
The former Napoli forward stressed that building a decisive cushion at home was essential, especially with the return leg looming in Turin.
“To weaken them, you must score more. There is still a second leg, so we had to keep pushing and motivating each other,” he added.
“I think it worked. Everyone raised their level, and this was one of our best Champions League performances.”
Focus Already on Turin
While satisfied with the result, Osimhen was quick to underline Juventus’ pedigree and the need for focus ahead of the second leg in the UEFA Champions League.
“We deserved the win, but Juventus remain a top side. We have to show the same mentality in Turin,” he concluded.
Galatasaray now turn their attention briefly to domestic duties against Konyaspor before travelling to Italy next week, where Osimhen and his teammates will look to finish the job and secure progression.
