Sports247 gathered that, although initial reports indicated some reluctance by Barca’s top shots to move for Osimhen due to worries over his fiery temper, the officials are now looking at his football value ahead of his manners.
Heated debate among moguls of the La Liga giants concluded with a decision by the club to move for Osimhen in the summer transfer window, while also making everything possible to keep Rashford to partner him next season.
While Rashford has already settled into the club’s mainframe, the next focus now is on getting Osimhen as a potential replacement for Lewandowski, whose spot in the squad had initially been reserved for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.
However, while Alvarez had been tagged Barca’s ‘priority target’ for a long while, Atletico are not ready to allow the 26-year-old Argentine attacker go, hence the emergence of Osimhen’s name in The Catalans’ wish list.
Spanish media outlet, Mundo Deportivo added, “Barcelona have earmarked Osimhen as a potential back-up plan. The 27-year-old has been fantastic once again this season, scoring 19 goals and providing five assists in 29 games.
“Barcelona are also ready to choose Rashford ahead of Ferran Torres this summer. Rashford is on-loan at Barca from Manchester United, with his deal carrying a €30m permanent option.
“Barca need a major sale to fund the Rashford deal and are now ready to transfer-list Torres in order to keep hold of the England international. Barca’s management would be happier keeping hold of Rashford.”
