Asisat Oshoala was involved in four goals in Barcelona Women’s 9-0 thrashing of Benfica in their UEFA Women’s Champions League opener on Wednesday, reports Sports247.ng.
Oshoala assisted twice and scored twice in the game. The striker assisted Barcelona’s first two goals. Her cross found Patricia Guijarro to open the score in the first minute. She also helped set up the second goal, which was scored by Aitana Bonmat from inside the box.
Oshoala struck the top corner from outside the area in the 34th minute to put Barcelona up 3-0 going into the halftime break.
Late in the second half with Barcelona already 7-0 ahead, Oshoala added her second goal of the evening in the 84th minute with a simple finish. Brazilian forward Geyse rounded up the scoring with a header four minutes later.
Barcelona are top of Group D following their demolition of Benfica. Bayern Munich and Rosengard are in the same group as the Spanish team. On Saturday, 22 October, they will play Real Betis in the Primera Division.
Oshoala has scored three goals in all competitions for Barcelona this season. The Super Falcons star finished 16th in this 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or. The award was won by her club teammate Alexia Putellas.
